San Thome Academy Sets Benchmark in Water Conservation, Wins Blue Star Water Award

 San Thome Academy, Bhopal Road has been honoured with the prestigious Blue Star Water Award  by the District Administration and Amrit Sanchay Abhiyan, Dewas, in recognition of its exemplary contribution to water conservation and sustainable development.

The award acknowledges the school’s proactive and innovative approach towards efficient water management. San Thome Academy has implemented a comprehensive and well-integrated water conservation system across its campus. Key initiatives include rainwater harvesting, drip irrigation, sprinklers and mist sprayers, water recycling facilities for the swimming pool, and modern sewage treatment plants, ensuring maximum reuse of water and minimal wastage.

The school campus reflects its deep commitment to environmental stewardship, boasting a lush green landscape with natural grass lawns, a well-maintained kitchen garden, and nearly 500 varieties of flora, contributing significantly to ecological balance and environmental protection.

Expressing gratitude on the occasion, the school management stated that the recognition reaffirms San Thome Academy’s dedication to sustainable practices and responsible utilisation of natural resources. The institution continues to motivate students and the wider community to adopt eco-friendly measures for a secure and sustainable water future.

To inculcate the values of sustainability among students, San Thome Academy regularly organises a variety of co-curricular activities such as debates, speeches, drawing and poster-making competitions, and tag board presentations. These initiatives aim to sensitise students to environmental conservation and the judicious use of natural resources.

Recently, students of the academy actively participated in several inter-school competitions organised under the Amrit Sanchay Abhiyan, Dewas, where they demonstrated remarkable awareness and talent on issues related to water conservation. Their commendable performances brought laurels to the institution.

In the Speech Competition for Classes VI–VIII, Anvi Sharma secured the First Prize and Shivansh Bhawsar who won the Second Prize, for Classes IX–XII, Aadya Vaish emerged as the First Prize winner. In the Debate Competition, Agamya Chauhan clinched the First Prize in the Classes VI–VIII category, while Raina Jain won the First Prize in the Classes IX–XII category. In the Drawing/Painting Competition for Classes VI–VIII, Himangi Ahakey secured the Second Prize.

In addition to the prize winners, several students received consolation awards for their outstanding performances. These included Srishti Solanki, Prashuk Singh, Kanishka Mukati, Divy Mehta, Diksha Lambodiya, and Tamanna.

The school management congratulated all the participants and winners for their excellent achievements and lauded their efforts in spreading awareness about water conservation and sustainability.

Mayor Mrs Geeta Agrawal, Collector Mr Rituraj Singh, MLA’s representative Mr Durgesh Agrawal, District Panchayat CEO Mrs Jyoti Sharma, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mr Dalip Kumar, UK-based author and environmentalist Prof. Mark Andrew, Director of Water Wisdom Mr. O. P. Sharma, along with Dr. Sunil Chaturvedi and Dr. Sameera Naeem,members of the Amrit Sanchay Abhiyan team were present at the Blue Star Water Award felicitation ceremony.
